The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has notified four new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) under the Chemical and Allied Product Group ‘A’ to facilitate faster and more uniform processing of Advance Authorisation applications for exporters.
The notification has been issued vide Public Notice No. 06/2026-27 dated May 04, 2026 in exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 1.03 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time.
Under the notification, four new SION entries bearing Serial Numbers A-3698, A-3699, A-3700 and A-3701 have been incorporated under the Chemical and Allied Product category (Product Code ‘A’).
Newly Notified SION Entries
The newly approved SIONs cover the following export products and corresponding import inputs:
- SION No. A-3698 pertains to the export product Cefuroxime Sterile Sodium with permissible import of Cefuroxime Acid.
- SION No. A-3699 relates to NAS-5 (2-Diazo-1-Napthol-5-Sulfonic Acid, Sodium Salt) with Tobias Acid (Purity Minimum 97%) allowed as import input.
- SION No. A-3700 covers Tobramycin 300 mg/5 ml Nebuliser Solution with Tobramycin permitted as the import item.
- SION No. A-3701 pertains to Schaeffers Acid with Beta Naphthol allowed as the corresponding import input.
The notification also specifies the corresponding import items and permissible input quantities for each export product.
Objective of the Notification
The DGFT has stated that the fixation of these SIONs will empower Regional Authorities (RAs) to issue Advance Authorisations directly, thereby eliminating the need for case-by-case referrals to the Norms Committee.
This initiative is expected to:
- Reduce processing time for exporters;
- Improve procedural efficiency;
- Ensure greater transparency and uniformity in approvals; and
- Enhance ease of doing business for the chemical and allied products sector.
