Government Extends Customs Duty Relief on Specified Petrochemical Commodities and AIDC Exemption on Ammonium Nitrate till July 15, 2026

The Central Government has extended the validity of the temporary customs duty relief granted on specified petrochemical commodities from June 30, 2026 to July 15, 2026. The amendment has been issued through Notification No. 22/2026-Customs dated June 30, 2026, which modifies Notification No. 12/2026-Customs dated April 1, 2026 by substituting the earlier validity date with July 15, 2026.

The relief continues to apply to specified petrochemical products, including key feedstock, intermediates and polymers such as methanol, phenol, acetic acid, PTA, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, ABS, PET chips, styrene, toluene and monoethylene glycol.

Further, the Government has also extended the validity of the exemption from Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) on Ammonium Nitrate till July 15, 2026. This amendment has been made through Notification No. 23/2026-Customs dated June 30, 2026, which amends Notification No. 13/2026-Customs dated April 1, 2026 by replacing the earlier date of June 30, 2026 with July 15, 2026.

Both notifications have been issued in public interest under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962. Notification No. 23/2026-Customs has also been issued in exercise of powers read with Section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021. All other provisions of the principal notifications remain unchanged.

The extension is expected to provide continued relief to industries using these petrochemical inputs and Ammonium Nitrate, ensuring short-term continuity in duty benefits till July 15, 2026.
