Central GST raids transporter’s hideout in Jabalpur

A Central GST team conducted a raid at Chaukse Roadways Service, located in Transport Nagar in Jabalpur. During the operation, the team found a large quantity of pan masala and gutkha stored in the warehouse. The goods found were being cross-checked against their corresponding documents and bills.

CGST superintendent Anup Singor said they had received information about goods being brought into Chaukse Roadways Service without proper billing. A significant quantity of pan masala and gutkha had been transported from Delhi without any documentation.

Acting on this tip-off, the CGST team raided the facility late on Wednesday night. Singor said the team was currently comparing the goods with the available bills and documents. Only after this process will it be determined how much of the merchandise was brought in without proper billing, he said.

The raid has caused considerable panic at the transporter’s premises, with other transport operators in the area temporarily shutting down their businesses. The CGST team has prepared a ‘panchnama’ of the seized goods. If the documents and bills do not match, legal action will be initiated following further investigation.

Sources revealed that the value of the goods involved runs into lakhs of rupees, with most of the items arriving without proper bills.
