The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 51/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated August 25, 2025, announcing a quarterly review of the All Industry Rates (AIR) of Duty Drawback relating to gold and silver jewellery and articles.
The notification makes amendments to the earlier Notification No. 77/2023-Customs (N.T.) dated October 20, 2023. The key revisions pertain to tariff items under Chapter 71, with updated drawback rates as follows:
- Tariff Item 711301 – Drawback rate revised from ₹335.50 to ₹466.76
- Tariff Item 711302 – Drawback rate revised from ₹4468.10 to ₹5234.00
- Tariff Item 711401 – Drawback rate revised from ₹4468.10 to ₹5234.00
These changes are notified under the powers conferred by Section 75 of the Customs Act, 1962 and Section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, read with the Customs and Central Excise Duties Drawback Rules, 2017.
The amendments aim to align drawback rates with prevailing market conditions, ensuring exporters of jewellery and related articles receive appropriate reimbursement of duties.
