DGFT Extends Minimum Import Price Condition on Sulfadiazine API till November 30, 2026

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has extended the Minimum Import Price (MIP) condition on Sulfadiazine API, covered under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule-I (Import Policy), up to November 30, 2026.

The extension has been notified vide Notification No. 40/2026-27 dated September 30, 2026. The notification has been issued by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred under Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended from time to time.

Existing MIP restriction extended till November 30, 2026

As per Notification No. 40/2026-27, the Government has extended the Minimum Import Price condition earlier imposed vide Notification No. 41/2025-26 dated October 10, 2025 on Sulfadiazine API falling under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS), 2022.

The MIP condition has been extended for a further period up to November 30, 2026, while all other terms and conditions prescribed under the earlier notification remain unchanged.

Minimum Import Price fixed at ₹1,774 per kg

The notification continues the Minimum Import Price of ₹1,774 per kg on Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value for import of Sulfadiazine API covered under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule-I (Import Policy).

Accordingly, the prescribed MIP-based import condition will continue to remain applicable to Sulfadiazine API imports up to November 30, 2026.

Policy continuity for pharmaceutical API imports

The extension ensures continuity of the existing import policy condition applicable to Sulfadiazine API, with no change in the prescribed MIP of ₹1,774 per kg or the other applicable terms and conditions.

The DGFT has also clarified that the notification has been issued with the approval of the Minister of Commerce & Industry.
