Government notifies India–Mauritius FTA Tariff Rates (6th Tranche)

The Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), has issued Notification No. 10/2026-Customs dated March 31, 2026 introducing amendments to tariff rates under the India–Mauritius Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as part of the 6th tranche implementation.

The notification, issued under Section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, substitutes Table 1 of the earlier Notification No. 25/2021-Customs, revising Basic Customs Duty (BCD) rates for a wide range of goods. The revised tariff schedule covers multiple product categories including marine products, processed food items, chemicals, textiles, plastics, machinery, and medical goods, with duty rates ranging from 0% to higher slabs depending on tariff classification.

The updated rates aim to operationalize phased tariff liberalization commitments under the India–Mauritius trade agreement, facilitating smoother trade flows and enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

The notification shall come into effect from April 1, 2026, marking another step in India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen preferential trade arrangements and promote international trade competitiveness.
