The CBIC issued Notification No. 57/2025 – Customs (N.T.) dated September 17, 2025 to amends its earlier Notification No. 62/1994-Customs (N.T.) dated November 21, 1994, notifies the Inclusion of Agatti Island for Baggage Handling Under Customs Rules.
As per the amendment, in the Table against serial number 7A relating to the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, the words “Minicoy Islands” have been revised to “(1) Minicoy Islands”. Further, a new entry has been inserted to include “(2) Agatti Island” under the same serial number. The new entry specifies that Agatti Island will now be recognized for the purpose of “unloading of baggage and the loading of baggage.”
This move is expected to streamline customs operations in the Lakshadweep islands and facilitate smoother passenger and baggage handling in Agatti, alongside the existing customs arrangements at Minicoy.
