A coaching center named Siddharth Logic, located opposite Kalyan railway station in Maharashtra, has come under scrutiny after its operator, Siddharth Singh Chandel, was allegedly caught impersonating a GST inspector. Chandel was reportedly charging students hefty fees under the pretense of preparing them for prestigious MPSC and UPSC examinations.
The controversy came to light after a 2.5-minute video went viral on social media, showing three members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) confronting Chandel in his office. The video captures a tense exchange, with Chandel appearing calm initially—speaking on the phone and attempting to defuse the situation. However, the confrontation escalates rapidly, culminating in one of the men slapping Chandel.
According to sources, approximately 40 students had enrolled in the coaching program, each paying a fee of Rs 30,000. Dissatisfaction grew among the students when they realized the quality of teaching did not meet the standards expected for UPSC or MPSC preparation. Many felt deceived, alleging that they had been scammed by false promises and substandard education.
The incident has sparked outrage and calls for further investigation into fraudulent coaching practices in the area.
The students were angry that the same thing was being taught in every lecture. On realizing the financial fraud, the students contacted and complained about this to the MNS workers.
Angry students, parents accost center owner
After the complaint of the students, MNS workers immediately reached Siddharth Logic Classes. When they questioned the operator Siddharth Singh Chandel, he gave vague answers. Angered by this, MNS workers beat him up and demanded that he return the students’ money. After returning some students’ money, when Chandel ran out of money, MNS workers handed him over to the police.
MNS alleges that Siddharth Chandel, the director of this class, is committing financial fraud with the students. This case has created the possibility of exposing many fake classes running in the name of competitive exams. The police will now investigate the case further and legal action will be taken against Chandel. Students and parents demand that the administration take strict action against such people. Parents and students are seen yelling in the video at Chandel, until police came and took him away.
No clarity on faculty
A student said, “When we joined, we were told that there would be different classes for different types of recruitment exams for banking, railways. Almost five months have passed by, and nothing has been taught yet. No mock tests were conducted, and no notifications for the exam have been received by us. Only the basic portion is still underway; we have not reached the advanced level yet. When we asked about the faculty, they did not have clarity on that as well. We were told Chandel is a GST inspector, but now we realised that he was lying.”
Will ensure students returned paid fees
“About 25 students complained to us through a written letter, and when we tried to probe more, it all seemed bogus. Chandel, who claimed to be a GST inspector, did not even have a valid IDs, he is not allowed to pose in uniform but he has used that photo on the banners and cheated many students. MNS will act at their other branch in Vashi. We will ensure that the students’ fees amount is returned back to them. Lecturers were changed every two months,” said an MNS worker.
