
Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, IRS (C&IT:1990), today on December 01, 2025 takes over the charge as the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). The assumption of charge took place at the CBIC Headquarters, North Block, New Delhi.
Prior to this assignment, Shri Chaturvedi has held several key responsibilities in the field formations and in the policy domain of Indirect Taxes and Customs. Over the span of more than three decades of distinguished service, he has contributed significantly to tax administration, trade facilitation, and enforcement measures, playing an instrumental role in strengthening the indirect taxation framework of the country.
As Chairman, Shri Chaturvedi will head CBIC — the apex body responsible for the formulation and implementation of policy concerning Goods and Services Tax (GST), Customs, Central Excise, and allied matters. He will lead CBIC’s efforts in further enhancing the ease of doing business, supporting legitimate trade, and strengthening compliance through technology-driven tax governance.
Senior officers of CBIC greeted Shri Chaturvedi on the occasion and extended their best wishes for a successful tenure.
