Shree Cement and Ansal Housing Face Tax Demands; Kesoram’s Liability Slashed to ₹6 Crore

Shree Cement, Ansal Housing and Kesoram Industries have received tax-related orders from authorities, with the companies indicating plans to contest the demands.

Shree Cement said it has received a service tax demand order of ₹8.31 crore from the Commissioner of Central GST and Central Excise, Jodhpur. The order, received on April 16, 2026, also includes applicable interest and an equivalent penalty.

The demand pertains to alleged non-payment of service tax. The company said it does not agree with the findings and intends to file an appeal before the appropriate tribunal within the stipulated timeline. It added that the order is not expected to have a significant financial impact.

Separately, Ansal Housing said it has received an assessment order and demand notice of ₹19.20 crore from the Income Tax Department for the assessment year 2024-25. The demand arises from additions and disallowances related to expenses, income recognition differences and other adjustments during the assessment process.

The company said it is in the process of filing an appeal and does not foresee any immediate impact on its financials or operations.

In another development, Kesoram Industries said its earlier income tax demand of ₹70.54 crore for AY 2024-25 has been reduced to ₹6.03 crore following a review by the authorities.

The company said it is evaluating further legal options regarding the remaining demand and added that the matter is not expected to have any material adverse impact on its operations.
