Reorganisation of Central Tax Commissionerates’ Territorial Jurisdiction: CBIC Requests Proposals from CGST Zones by March 31, 2025

The CBIC issued Office Memorandum vide F.No. CBIC-20010/5/2025-GST/258 dated March 12, 2025, regarding the reorganisation of territorial jurisdiction of Central Tax Commissionerates under CBIC in all Central Tax Zones. Various representations have been received from different zones for further reorganisation due to administrative reasons. Instead of piecemeal changes, a comprehensive assessment will be done for all formations and presented to the Finance Minister. Chief Commissioners of all central CGST Zones are requested to send proposals for revision and reorganisation, specifying justifications, to gst_cbec@gov.in and prashantsharma.irs@gov.in by March 31, 2025.

The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject above and inform that various representations have been received from different Central Tax Zones for further reorganising the territorial jurisdiction of the Central Tax Commissionerates (CGST) under their Zones due to various administrative reasons and to state that the matter has been examined.

In this regard, it has been decided that instead of revising and reorganising the territorial jurisdiction of the Central Tax Commissionerates (CGST) in a piecemeal manner, an assessment of such requirements can be done for all the formations (Central Tax Commissionerates) under all the Central Tax Zones of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, which shall then be put up to the Hon’ble Finance Minister in a comprehensive manner.

Thus, it is requested that Pr. Chief/Chief Commissioners of all central CGST Zones may assess such requirement for revising and reorganising the territorial jurisdiction of the Central Tax Commissionerates (CGST) under their Zones and may please send the proposals regarding such revision and reorganisation specifying the justification and reasons for the required changes to this office latest by 31st March 2025. The proposals may be sent via e-mail to gst-cbec@gov.in along with a copy to prashantsharma.irs@gov.in.
