Ranchi Income Tax surveys detect Rs 50 crore undisclosed income at realty groups

Income Tax (I-T) investigation wing has claimed to have detected undisclosed income worth around Rs. 50 crore during surveys conducted on five premises of Panache Realtors and Dayanand Modi Group in Ranchi city over the last two days, it said on Thursday.

Sources said that the I-T teams were analysing various documents and digital data, including chats, mostly related to cash transactions. Experts have also been deployed to recover the deleted chats.

The partners of two real estate groups, including Narayan Prasad Jalan, Aditya Jhunjhunwala and Pradeep Modi of Panache Realtors and Anurag Modi, Sandip Modi and Abhimanyu Modi of Dayanand Modi Group, are also being questioned, I-T sources said.

They further said that in the Rosewood apartment in Lalpur, both the landowners and builders were allegedly found to have evaded taxes. Even the sales of the properties in this complex were allegedly done without appropriate process.

Apart from Ranchi, the I-T teams from Patna, Bhagalpur and Jamshedpur were engaged in the operations. The persons who purchased the assets at Rosewood may also come under the scanner later on, sources said.
