Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on April 14, while addressing a rally in Haryana, slammed the Karnataka government for the price hikes quoting the Moneycontrol report.
“In Karnataka, everything, from electricity and milk prices to bus fares and seeds, has become more expensive. I noticed on social media that the Congress government in Karnataka has increased taxes. This has been clearly illustrated in an A-to-Z list, where each alphabet is paired with a hike in the prices or taxes of various commodities, thoroughly exposing the Congress government.” he said this while speaking at a rally in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.
Moneycontrol published a report titled ‘From A-Z, Karnataka sees a series of price hikes’ on April 11. The accompanying graphic illustrating the A-to-Z price hikes in Karnataka later went viral on social media.
As per data released by the Union Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, inflation based on the Consumer Price Index was at 4.49% in Karnataka in February 2025, above the national average of 3.61%
