‘Pay Rent In Cash Only’: Bengaluru PG Refuses Online Payment Without Added ‘12% GST’ | Viral

How entitled one has to be to think that they are above the law– is a question that is often asked in India. The country is full of people not only acting this way, but also flaunting the same. From openly threatening anyone and everyone to casually breaking laws on a daily basis without a single worry over their legal consequences, social media has seen far too many videos and whatnot to leave the public in general concerned. Something similar was witnessed in this Bengaluru case as well. Taking to Reddit, a man shared a rather problematic notice stuck on a Bengaluru PG’s wall. As per the notice, the occupants of the PG were allowed to pay their rents in ‘cash only’. As per the notice, an online payment would lead to an added payment of ‘12 per cent GST’.

As soon as the picture of the same began to circulate online, netizens started reacting. Most advised the Redditor to take some legal action, while some pointed out the importance of stricter rules and punishments for such casual law breakers.

Times Now could not confirm the details or the authenticity of the post.

“Rent Should Paid In Cash Only Online Payment 12% GST,” the notice read.

“Saw this in a PG!” a user said.

The post was shared on Reddit. The post was shared a few days ago and pulled 31K views from people.

“I hope the government gets a number to report this. Win for them, win for us Ig? This classifies as tax evasion Ig,” a user said. “Makes practical sense first you need to pay more ! Because GST is passed back to you,” commented another.

“Pay in UPI only, these leeches make money and don’t want to contribute to the economy. Let him pay 12% GST on what you give, let’s not encourage tax evasion and ask him to give a GST bill, which they can’t refuse,” added another person.

“Everyone has option to escape except salaried!” wrote another person. “When I’m paying tax legitimately out of my salary. I’m not paying anyone in cash to avoid taxes. Sorry,” commented another person.
