Net direct tax collections surge 13.13% to Rs 21.27 lakh crore so far in FY25

The net direct tax collection grew by 13.13 per cent to about Rs 21.27 lakh crore so far this financial year, per the government data released on March 17. Data by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) stated that the net corporate tax collection between April 1, 2024, and March 16, 2025, was Rs 9.69 lakh crore. Meanwhile, net non-corporate tax collection, which includes mainly personal income tax, stood at Rs 1101 lakh crore.

Net collections from securities transaction tax (STT) was recorded at Rs 53,095 crore this fiscal (till date).

During the period in review, refunds worth over Rs 4.6 lakh crore were issued, recording a 32.51 per cent increase over the year-ago period.

Gross direct tax mop up between April 1 and January 12 grew 16.2 per cent to Rs 25.87 lakh crore.

The government has budgeted to collect Rs 22.07 lakh crore in the current financial year from direct taxes.
