The Nagpur office of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade conducted an informational seminar on Tuesday to educate local exporters about the opportunities presented by the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement recently signed between India and the United Kingdom.
Snehal Dhokey, Assistant Director (Foreign Trade), Nagpur DGFT office and an officer of the Indian Trade Service, delivered a presentation outlining the potential advantages of the bilateral trade agreement for regional businesses.
According to Dhokey, local enterprises stand to benefit significantly from the elimination of tariffs across multiple key sectors, including textiles, engineering goods, handicrafts, agriculture, and related agricultural products.
The trade agreement is also expected to provide substantial benefits to the chemical, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries operating in the region.
Dhokey highlighted that Nagpur’s growing prominence as an information technology services hub positions the city to capitalie on additional opportunities arising from the UK trade deal.
The seminar was organised through a collaborative effort between the DGFT Nagpur office, the Vidarbha Industries Association, and the Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce.
The joint initiative reflects the commitment of trade organisations to ensure local exporters are well-informed about the provisions and benefits of the new trade agreement with the United Kingdom.
