The Income Tax Department has released the latest version of the Common Offline Utility for filing Income-tax Returns in ITR 1, ITR 2, ITR 3 and ITR 4 for Assessment Year 2026-27 on the e-Filing portal.

The updated utility has been made available in version 1.2.1. It can be used by taxpayers for preparing and filing their Income-tax Returns in offline mode before uploading the same on the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
The Common Offline Utility is available for both Windows and Mac users. The utility file for Windows is available in ZIP format with a size of 55.1 MB, while the utility for Mac is also available in ZIP format with a size of 85.3 MB.
As per the update on the e-Filing portal, the latest version of the utility was released on July 1, 2026. The first version of the utility was released on May 20, 2026.
This update will help taxpayers falling under the applicable ITR categories to prepare their returns in a structured manner and complete the filing process for AY 2026-27 smoothly through the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
Taxpayers are advised to download the latest version of the utility from the official e-Filing portal and ensure that they use the updated version while preparing their Income-tax Returns.
