The Income Tax Department has released updated versions of return filing utilities and JSON Schemas for Assessment Year (AY) 2025–26 in December 2025, with the objective of facilitating smooth and accurate compliance by taxpayers.
The Common Offline Utility for filing ITR-1 to ITR-4 has been updated to version 1.2.7 for both Windows and Mac users. Separate utilities, Excel-based tools, updated JSON Schemas, schema change documents and validation manuals have also been released for ITR-3, ITR-5 and ITR-6. These updates incorporate the latest structural changes, validations and system enhancements.
In addition, the utility and schema for Form 3CEB, relating to international and specified domestic transactions under section 92E, have also been updated.
All revised utilities and schemas were released between 23–24 December 2025 and are available on the official e-filing portal. Taxpayers and tax professionals are advised to use only the latest versions while preparing and filing returns for AY 2025–26 to avoid validation errors and ensure seamless filing.
