The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has further strengthened the Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) Portal by introducing enhanced functionalities and process improvements aimed at improving ease of use, transparency and compliance for Chartered Accountants and stakeholders.
The updated UDIN Portal continues to serve as a key digital initiative to curb misrepresentation and ensure authenticity of documents certified by Chartered Accountants. The portal enables generation, verification, revocation and management of UDINs in a secure and streamlined manner.
Key Highlights of the Updated UDIN Portal
Single Sign-On (SSO) Integration: The first-time registration requirement has been abolished. Members can now log in seamlessly using their ICAI Self Service Portal (SSP) credentials, enhancing convenience and security.
Enhanced Dashboard and Analytics: The Member Dashboard provides graphical insights including year-wise and category-wise UDIN generation through bar graphs and pie charts, allowing members to monitor their UDIN activity efficiently.
Expanded UDIN Generation Capabilities
UDINs can be generated under three major categories:
- Certificates
- GST & Tax Audit
- Audit & Assurance Functions
Dynamic input fields aligned with document content have been introduced, allowing numeric, alphanumeric, or mixed data capture as per the nature of certification.
Additional Compliance Parameters
- Mandatory capturing of PAN of the assessee/auditee for GST and Tax Audit reports, solely for validation at the e-filing portal.
- Introduction of Auditor’s Opinion on Financial Statements and Preceding Year’s Audit Details, in line with Council decisions.
- Mandatory encrypted disclosure of Memorandum of Changes (MoC) for statutory bank branch audits, without revealing client details.
Bulk UDIN Generation Facility: Members can generate up to 300 UDINs at one time using category-specific templates, significantly reducing effort for high-volume certifications.
Improved UDIN Management: The ‘List UDIN’ module allows advanced filtering, searching, downloading (CSV/PDF), printing and revocation of UDINs within the prescribed time frame, ensuring better record management.
Robust Grievance Redressal Mechanism: Members and external users can lodge grievances with attachment support, track status online and re-open cases where required, ensuring transparency and timely resolution.
Real-time UDIN Verification: Authorities, regulators, banks and other stakeholders can verify UDINs through single or bulk verification, supported by OTP-based authentication, QR codes and downloadable verification reports.
Strengthening Trust and Transparency
The UDIN Portal has emerged as a critical tool in reinforcing trust in documents certified by Chartered Accountants. With continuous enhancements, ICAI remains committed to leveraging technology for improving governance, accountability and public confidence in financial and audit reporting.
