Gujarat sees 20% jump in GST revenue in May

Gujarat has seen a significant surge in its GST revenue in May this year. The state collected Rs 6,265 crore under GST, which is 20% higher than the Rs 5,234 crore collected in May 2024. This growth is also higher than the national average GST growth of 16% during the corresponding period.

Apart from GST, Gujarat also earned Rs 2,783 crore through VAT, Rs 1,137 crore from electricity duty, and Rs 22 crore from professional tax in May.

In total, the state collected Rs 10,244 crore through GST, VAT, electricity duty, and professional tax. Notably, Gujarat has been consistently collecting over Rs 10,000 crore every month since January this year.

Under the GST Amnesty Scheme 2024, the state received applications for a total of 10,643 eligible cases. Out of these, 60% of the cases were resolved by May. This means dues have been recovered in more than 6,400 cases.
