Gujarat registers 16% rise in GST collection

Gujarat’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 16.07% year-on-year in Oct 2025 to Rs 7,127 crore, significantly outpacing the national growth rate of 4.6%. The state collected Rs 6,140 crore in Oct 2024, according to data by the state commercial tax department. The state tax department’s total revenue for Oct 2025, including other major levies, stood at Rs 10,703 crore. This comprised Rs 2,534 crore from value-added tax (VAT), Rs 1,016 crore from electricity duty and Rs 26 crore from business tax.

Revenue from enforcement activities also showed robust growth. The department’s mobile squads collected Rs 30.7 crore from exploration and inspection drives in Oct 2025, a 25% increase from Rs 24.58 crore a year earlier. Officials said the steady rise in GST and enforcement revenue reflects stronger compliance and improved economic activity across sectors in the state.
