GSTN Expands Digital Payment Options: UPI & Credit/Debit Cards Payments Now Live in Chhattisgarh; Facility available in 27 States and UTs

In a significant step toward simplifying tax compliance and promoting ease of doing business, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has introduced a new facility enabling taxpayers to make GST payments through UPI and Debit/Credit Cards. This initiative marks a major advancement in India’s digital tax payment system, further supporting the government’s vision of a cashless economy and efficient e-governance.

Under this new facility, taxpayers can now pay their GST dues directly on the GST portal (www.gst.gov.in) using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Debit/Credit Cards powered by Rupay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners networks. This feature provides taxpayers with faster, more secure, and user-friendly payment options, eliminating delays and manual procedures previously associated with traditional payment modes.

The facility available in Chhattisgarha also, now total 27 States and Union Territories available, with the remaining regions and additional banks expected to be covered shortly.

Banking Partners for GST Payments

The facility is currently operational through the following banks for UPI and card payments:

  • Axis Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, IDFC First Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Bandhan Bank, and ICICI Bank (Credit/Debit Cards only).
  • Indian Bank (Debit Cards only).
  • Dhanlaxmi Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, and South Indian Bank (UPI only).

This step will particularly benefit small taxpayers and businesses by providing them with a seamless, digital, and real-time payment experience directly through the GST portal. It reduces reliance on net banking and manual challans, ensuring faster credit to the government account.
