The Ministry of Finance has urged authorities to expedite cadre clearance for officers selected for deputation appointments in the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). Despite approval from the finance minister, formal appointment orders are delayed due to pending clearances. Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Additional Secretary at the Department of Revenue, reminded Ms. Aruna Naryan Gupta, Member (Admin) at CBIC, of the urgency, following up on a February 24, 2025 communication. He requested her intervention to instruct Cadre Controlling Authorities/Zones to quickly issue the clearances.
“Kindly refer to my D.O. letter of even no. dated 24th February 2025, whereby kind intervention was sought to expedite issuance of cadre clearances in respect of officers working under the CBIC field formations (CCZs) who have been selected for appointment as supporting staffs in the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) on deputation basis. It is informed that the same are awaited.
I would like to inform that the selection of the officers for the appointment has been approved by the Hon’ble Finance Minister. However, issuance of formal appointment orders is awaited for want of the cadre clearances.
I therefore again request your kind intervention in instructing the concerned Cadre Controlling Authorities/Zones for taking action in speedy issuance of cadre clearances in respect of the officers at Annexure.”
