GSTAT Chennai Bench Operationalises Help Desk to Facilitate Stakeholder Assistance

In a significant step towards enhancing taxpayer facilitation and improving accessibility to appellate services under the Goods and Services Tax regime, the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Chennai Bench, has operationalised a dedicated Help Desk to provide guidance and assistance to stakeholders.

As per Public Notice F.No. GSTAT/CHENNAI/ADMN./2026-27/ dated 12 June 2026, the Help Desk has been established with the objective of assisting Chartered Accountants, Advocates, Authorised Representatives, taxpayers and other stakeholders in matters concerning the functioning of the Tribunal.

The Help Desk will extend support relating to filing of appeals, procedural requirements, case-related queries and general assistance connected with proceedings before the GSTAT, Chennai Bench. The initiative is expected to facilitate smoother interaction between stakeholders and the Tribunal administration.

Stakeholders and members of the public seeking assistance may approach the Help Desk during office hours from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on all working days of the Bench. The Help Desk is temporarily functioning from the following address:

GSTAT, Chennai Bench2nd Floor, Narmada Block, Customs House, 60, Rajaji Salai, Chennai – 600001.

To ensure effective functioning of the Help Desk, the following officials have been designated to provide necessary guidance and assistance:

The GSTAT has requested all concerned stakeholders to make optimum use of this facility for obtaining timely guidance and support in matters pertaining to the Tribunal. The establishment of the Help Desk reflects the Government’s continued emphasis on taxpayer-centric administration and ease of compliance under the GST framework.

The Public Notice further states that the initiative has been launched with the approval of the Vice-President, GSTAT, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Background:

The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal serves as an important forum for adjudication of disputes arising under the GST laws. The operationalisation of a dedicated Help Desk is expected to improve stakeholder outreach, facilitate procedural clarity and strengthen confidence in the appellate mechanism.
