In July 2025, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections reached ₹1.96 lakh crore, reflecting a 7.5% year-on-year growth compared to ₹1.73 lakh crore in July 2024. This increase underscores a steady momentum in economic activity. The growth was driven by both domestic and import segments, with domestic gross revenue rising by 6.7% and import revenue by 9.7%. Among the components, IGST from imports rose significantly to ₹51,626 crore. Notably, total refunds also increased by 66.8% to ₹27,147 crore, indicating stronger compliance and possible uptick in exports. On a net basis, overall GST revenue grew by a modest 1.7% to ₹1.69 lakh crore due to higher refunds. Year-to-date (April to July), gross collections stood at ₹8.18 lakh crore, up 10.7% compared to the same period last year. State-wise performance varied, with Tripura (41%), Meghalaya (26%), and Madhya Pradesh (18%) showing strong growth, while Manipur and Mizoram saw notable declines.
