The Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities on January 13 conducted a search at the Gurugram office of PB Fintech, the holding company of online insurance aggregator Policybazaar, people familiar with the development said.
The operation involved detailed scrutiny of documents and records at the company’s premises, the people said, requesting anonymity.
“The search is currently ongoing at the Gurgaon office. The GST raid is being conducted to assess potential evasion,” one of the people cited.
The company declined to comment on the Moneycontrol’s mail seeking comments. The company has yet to issue an official statement regarding the raid or the allegations.
PB Fintech, owns and operates Policybazaar, which offers an array of insurance products and advisory services. While the exact quantum of the alleged tax evasion is not yet known, discrepancies in GST filings may have prompted the action, the person said.
