Govt Reinstates and Amends Export Norms for Galvanized Rods

The DGFT issued Public Notice No. 27/2025-26 dated October 22, 2025 has announced the reinstatement and amendment of Standard /Input Output Norms (SION) C676 for the export of “HOT DIPPED GALVANISED TENSION BAR/ GATE RODS/ TRUSS RODS/ DROP RODS.”

As per Public Notice, these changes are made in exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 1.03 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023. The updated norms, which take immediate effect, specify the wastage allowance for various input items used in the production of these galvanized rods for export.

The amended SION C676 outlines the following wastage allowances:

  • For RE-ROLLABLE SCRAP OF USABLE SCRAP/BILLET CUTTINGS: 1.10 KG/KG of net weight of ungalvanized tension bar/gate rods/truss rods/drop rods in the export product.
  • For MS BILLETS/BLOOMS: 1.05 KG/KG on the net weight of ungalvanized tension bar/gate rods/truss rods/drop rods in the export product.
  • For NON-ALLOY STEEL WIRE RODS: 1.03 KG/KG on the net weight of ungalvanized tension bar/gate rods/truss rods/drop rods in the export product.
  • For ZINC WITH PURITY OF 99.99%: 0.03 KG/KG weight of steel content in the export product.

This reinstatement and amendment aim to streamline export processes and clarify the input-output norms for manufacturers and exporters dealing with hot-dipped galvanized products.
