
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued Notification No. 57/2025-26 dated February 05, 2026, announcing amendments in the Import Policy and Policy Conditions for umbrellas covered under Chapter 66 of Schedule-I (Import Policy) of ITC (HS) 2022.
Key Amendments
The following changes have been notified for umbrella items:
HS Code 66019100 – Umbrellas with telescopic shaft
- Existing Import Policy: Free
- Revised Import Policy: Restricted
- Revised Policy Condition:
- Import will be Free only when the CIF value is ₹100 or above per piece.
HS Code 66019900 – Other umbrellas
- Existing Import Policy: Free
- Revised Import Policy: Restricted
- Revised Policy Condition:
- Import will be Free where the CIF value is ₹100 and above per piece.
Minimum Import Price (MIP) Exemption
The notification further clarifies that the Minimum Import Price (MIP) condition shall not apply to imports by:
- Advance Authorisation holders
- Export Oriented Units (EOUs)
- Units located in Special Economic Zones (SEZs)
This exemption is valid as long as imported goods are not sold in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA).
Effect of the Notification
- Import of finished umbrellas under HS Codes 66019100 and 66019900 has been revised from “Free” to “Restricted.”
- However, imports will remain Free when CIF value is ₹100 or above per piece.
- Imports under these HS codes by authorised holders (Advance Authorisation, EOUs, SEZ units) will be exempted from the MIP condition.
