The Government of India has revised the export policy of specified categories of Wheat, changing their export status from ‘Prohibited’ to ‘Free’ with immediate effect.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued Notification No. 35/2026-27 dated 24 August 2026 in this regard.
The amendment has been made by the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 5 read with Section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992), as amended, read with Para 1.02 and Para 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.
Through the notification, the Government has amended the Export Policy of Wheat under Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy.
Under ITC (HS) Code 10011900, covering “Durum Wheat – Other”, the existing export policy of ‘Prohibited’ has been revised to ‘Free’.
Similarly, for Wheat falling under ITC (HS) Code 10019910, the export policy has also been revised from ‘Prohibited’ to ‘Free’.
Accordingly, the export policy of the above-mentioned wheat products/items shall be ‘Free’ with immediate effect.
The Effect of the Notification states that the export policy of Wheat falling under the above-mentioned HS Codes has been revised from ‘Prohibited’ to ‘Free’ with immediate effect.
