The Government of India has launched an engaging national-level quiz titled “Quiz on the Income Tax Act, 2025” to promote awareness about the country’s newly introduced direct taxation framework. The initiative, organized by the Income Tax Department in collaboration with MyGov, aims to familiarize citizens with the key features of the Income Tax Act, 2025, which replaces the earlier 1961 legislation with a more simplified, transparent, and technology-driven approach [https://quiz.mygov.in/quiz/quiz-on-the-income-tax-act-2025/]. The quiz is part of the Government’s broader efforts to enhance taxpayer awareness and encourage active citizen participation in building a modern and efficient tax ecosystem.
The quiz competition commenced on 20th March 2026 and will remain open until 20th April 2026. It is open to all Indian citizens, providing an inclusive platform for students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and taxpayers to test and enhance their understanding of the new tax regime. Participants will answer 10 questions within a time limit of 300 seconds, with no negative marking, ensuring a fair and accessible experience for all.
To encourage wide participation, the Government has announced attractive cash prizes. The top 10 winners will receive ₹10,000 each, followed by ₹5,000 each for the next 20 winners and ₹3,000 each for the subsequent 50 winners. Additionally, all participants will be awarded an e-certificate recognizing their participation. The winners will be selected through a transparent, system-generated randomization process from among eligible participants who answer all questions correctly within the stipulated time.
Through this initiative, the Government seeks to deepen public engagement with the Income Tax Act, 2025 and reinforce its vision of a simpler, smarter, and more inclusive direct tax system. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in the quiz and contribute to India’s journey towards a transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric taxation framework.
