Goa’s economy posted an encouraging growth in the 2024-25 fiscal year, with the total goods and services tax (GST) collections recording a 10.4% rise to Rs 7,146 crore as of March 31, data released by the Union ministry of finance showed. Goa’s GST collections were on a par with, if not slightly better than, the 10% growth recorded as the national average.
On a monthly basis, Goa did far better, posting a 20% jump in GST collections in March, rising from Rs 565 crore a year ago to Rs 680 crore. This GST collection is split between Centre and the state.
Goa’s cumulative GST revenues, including its share in the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) paid, rose 10% to Rs 4,515 crore for the full year from Rs 4,120 crore in the same month a year ago.
According to the finance ministry’s data, there are 18,164 GST taxpayers registered with the central GST office and 28,209 GST taxpayers registered with Goa’s state GST commissioner.
In the April 2024 to March 2025 period, Rs 7,146 crore was collected in Goa under Central Goods and Services Tax, State Goods and Services Tax, IGST, and cess. The GST collections from Goa are matched by Jammu & Kashmir.
