An honorary representative of a state-level GST officers and employees association has voiced strong opposition to the recent decision to transfer all departmental staff. The representative urged the Chief Minister to intervene, warning that such a move could negatively impact GST revenue collections.
According to a press release, a delegation from the association met with key government leaders, requesting that the issue be brought to the attention of the Chief Minister. They highlighted that in the past 30 years, no department in the state had witnessed such frequent and complete staff transfers.
Association leaders emphasized that transferring the entire workforce disrupts departmental functioning, as staff require considerable time to familiarize themselves with local traders, dealers, and procedures. They argued that such disruptions make it extremely difficult to achieve GST collection targets.
During their interaction with senior political leaders, the association members appealed for support in safeguarding the interests of departmental officials and employees affected by the annual transfer policy.
