The Tamizhaga Eri Mattrum Attrum Pasana Vivasayigal Sangam has urged the government to exempt agricultural equipment from the GST.
In a resolution adopted at its State general body meeting, chaired by president, the association demanded that farm machines such as tractors and power tillers be exempted from GST and SGST.
The association urged the State and Union governments to increase the minimum support price to ₹3,500 a quintal of paddy; ₹4,500 a tonne of sugarcane; ₹12,000 per quintal for cotton and ₹3,000 a quintal for maize and an increase in the procurement price of milk. Permanent infrastructure should be created at the Direct Purchase Centres to prevent paddy from getting wet in rain.
Demanding the construction of check dams across all major rivers in the State, the association demanded the all water bodies should be rejuvenated to harvest rainwater.
