The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has amended Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023, to include SBER Bank in the list of banks authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to import gold for the financial year 2025–26.
The amendment has been notified through Public Notice No. 40/2025-26 dated December 19, 2025, issued under the powers conferred by paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023.
With this amendment, SBER Bank has been added to the existing list of authorised banks, which already includes Indian Overseas Bank and Union Bank of India. The authorisation granted to SBER Bank is effective from 25th June 2025 and valid till 31st March 2026.
It has been clarified that the import of gold by SBER Bank shall be permitted only for domestic consumption.
The updated list of banks authorised to import only gold under Part B of Appendix 4B shall be applicable for the period 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026.
This move is expected to facilitate smoother operations in the gold import segment by expanding the number of authorised banking channels, in line with the provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.
