The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has issued Notification No. 43/2026-27 dated October 12, 2026, extending the existing Minimum Import Price (MIP) condition on the import of Glufosinate and its salts until April 12, 2027. The amendment relates to specified products covered under Chapter 38 of Schedule-I (Import Policy) of ITC (HS), 2022.
The notification has been issued in exercise of the powers conferred under Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended from time to time.
Extension of Existing Minimum Import Price Condition
The DGFT has extended the MIP condition originally imposed through Notification No. 10/2026-27 dated April 13, 2026, on the import of Glufosinate and its salts. The existing condition will now remain applicable up to April 12, 2027, providing continuity to the prevailing import policy framework governing these products.
Importantly, the latest notification does not introduce any fresh MIP rate or modify the other provisions of the earlier notification. All other terms and conditions prescribed under Notification No. 10/2026-27 shall remain unchanged.
Specified HS Codes Covered Under the Amendment
The extension applies to Glufosinate and its salts classified under the following eight HS codes of Chapter 38 of Schedule-I (Import Policy) of ITC (HS), 2022:
38089193, 38089199, 38089361, 38089391, 38089399, 38089912, 38089991 and 38089999.
Accordingly, imports of the specified products covered under these tariff classifications will continue to be governed by the existing Minimum Import Price condition until April 12, 2027.
Implications for Importers and Trade
The extension is significant for importers, traders and businesses dealing in Glufosinate and its salts, as the existing MIP condition will continue to apply for the extended period.
Importers dealing in the notified products will need to ensure compliance with the applicable import policy conditions while planning imports, entering into supply arrangements and undertaking import transactions.
The continuation of the existing MIP framework also provides clarity regarding the applicable import policy for the specified products during the extended period.
Effect of the Notification
As expressly provided in Notification No. 43/2026-27 dated October 12, 2026, the Minimum Import Price condition imposed under Notification No. 10/2026-27 dated April 13, 2026, on the import of Glufosinate and its salts falling under the specified HS codes stands extended till April 12, 2027.
