DGFT Expands RELIEF Scheme Coverage to Egypt and Jordan

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued Notification No. 11/2026-27 dated April 17, 2026, amending earlier Notification No. 65/2025-26 dated March 19, 2026, to expand the scope of the Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) scheme.

Inclusion of Egypt and Jordan under RELIEF Scheme

In exercise of powers conferred under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the Central Government has approved the inclusion of Egypt and Jordan in the list of eligible destinations under the RELIEF scheme.

As per the amendment:

  • The list of eligible export destinations under paras 6.2, 7.2 and 8.2 of the earlier notification has been expanded to include Egypt and Jordan.
  • These countries are now eligible in addition to the already notified destinations, specifically for shipments involving delivery or transshipment.

Objective of the Amendment

The inclusion aims to support exporters facing ongoing global logistics disruptions, particularly in trade routes involving the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. By extending RELIEF benefits to Egypt and Jordan, the Government seeks to:

  • Enhance export resilience
  • Reduce logistical bottlenecks and cost pressures
  • Facilitate smoother trade flows to affected regions

Continuity of Existing Provisions

The DGFT has clarified that all other provisions of Notification No. 65/2025-26 remain unchanged, ensuring continuity in the implementation framework of the RELIEF scheme.

Impact

With this amendment, exporters shipping goods to or via Egypt and Jordan will now be eligible for RELIEF scheme benefits under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM). This is expected to provide targeted relief to exporters impacted by supply chain disruptions and improve India’s export competitiveness in the region.
