The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued Notification No. 06/2026-27, dated April 9, 2026, announcing a revision in the description of HS Code 73181500 under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme.
According to the notification, the description in Appendix-4R and Appendix-4RE of the Handbook of Procedures (HBP) has been modified. The existing description, “Screw for use in manufacture of cellular mobile phone,” has been replaced with “Other screws and bolts, whether or not with their nuts or washers.”
The amendment has been carried out to align the RoDTEP schedule with the corresponding classification under the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, thereby ensuring greater clarity and consistency in export-related classifications.
The notification has been issued under the provisions of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time.
The revised description will be effective retrospectively from December 15, 2022, and is expected to facilitate uniform interpretation for exporters availing benefits under the RoDTEP Scheme.
