DGFT amends Export Obligation Period for Gold, Platinum, Silver, and Jewellery Exports

The DGFT has issued Public Notice No. 28/2025-2026 dated October 23, 2025, announcing an amendment to Para 4.84 (b) of the Handbook of Procedures 2023. This amendment, effective immediately, clarifies the export obligation period for consignments against Export Authorisation, specifically for gold, platinum, silver, and export of jewellery.

The revised policy maintains the requirement for export obligation to be fulfilled within 120 days from the date of import for each consignment against Authorisation. However, the export obligation period for these specific goods will now be 180 days from the date of import of findings, mountings made of gold, platinum, and silver, and export of jewellery. No further extension in the export obligation period will be allowed.

Furthermore, the amendment explicitly states that an Advance Authorisation holder may also import gold as replenishment after the completion of exports.

This amendment aims to streamline and align the procedure in Para 4.84(b) of the Handbook of Procedures with Para 4.36(a) of the Foreign Trade Policy, offering more clarity to exporters dealing with these precious metals and articles.
