The Central GST (CGST) department conducted searches at multiple premises linked to a prominent real estate developer in Gurugram as part of an investigation into alleged tax evasion, an official said.
According to an official statement, the searches resulted in recovery of Rs 117 crore towards GST liability. Documentary and digital evidence indicating alleged suppression of taxable supplies and cash dealings through a network of brokers and channel partners was also seized, it said.
A follow-up search at the residential premises of a linked broker or channel partner led to the recovery of Rs 7.9 crore in cash allegedly concealed there, the statement said.
Further leads are being developed and the investigation is underway, the official said.
