CBIC Notifies Udangudi in Tamil Nadu for Unloading of Imported Coal

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has notified Udangudi in Tamil Nadu as a customs location for the unloading of imported coal.

The measure has been notified through Notification No. 66/2026–Customs (N.T.), dated 20 July 2026, issued in exercise of the powers conferred under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962.

Through the notification, CBIC has amended Notification No. 62/1994–Customs (N.T.), dated 21 November 1994. In the table relating to the State of Tamil Nadu, a new entry has been inserted designating Udangudi for the purpose of unloading imported coal.

The notification is expected to strengthen customs infrastructure for coal imports in Tamil Nadu and facilitate the efficient handling and clearance of imported coal at Udangudi.
