CBIC notifies Revision of All Industry Rates (AIR) of Duty Drawback for Gold and Silver Jewellery/Articles

The CBIC has issued Notification No. 21/2026–Customs (N.T.) dated 16th February, 2026, amending Notification No. 77/2023-Customs (N.T.) dated 20th October, 2023, relating to the All Industry Rates (AIR) of Duty Drawback.

The notification has been issued in exercise of powers conferred under Section 75 of the Customs Act, 1962 and Section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 read with rules 3 and 4 of the Customs and Central Excise Duties Drawback Rules, 2017.

Key Amendments

The amendment revises the All Industry Rates (AIR) of duty drawback for specified tariff items under Chapter 71 (Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, jewellery, etc.) as follows:

  • Tariff Item 711301 (Gold Jewellery) Drawback rate revised from 27 to 639.59.
  • Tariff Item 711302 (Gold Jewellery – Other categories) Drawback rate revised from 22 to 9089.33.
  • Tariff Item 711401 (Silver Jewellery/Articles) Drawback rate revised from 22 to 9089.33.

Objective

The revision of AIR for gold jewellery and silver jewellery/articles is aimed at aligning drawback rates with prevailing duty incidence and input cost structures, thereby ensuring adequate neutralization of duties suffered on inputs used in the manufacture of exported jewellery products.

The principal Notification No. 77/2023-Customs (N.T.) was last amended on 27th October, 2025.

This amendment will support exporters in the gems and jewellery sector by improving liquidity and enhancing export competitiveness.
