CBIC Adds Navi Mumbai to the List of Notified Places under the Customs Act; Amends Notification No. 27/2018-Customs (N.T.)

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has notified Notification No. 57/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated 18th June, 2026, amending the principal Notification No. 27/2018-Customs (N.T.) dated 28th March, 2018. The notification carries File No. 451/11/2026-Cus.V and has been issued under the signature of Indrajit Panda, Under Secretary to the Government of India.

Issued in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (f) of sub-section (1) of section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the notification amends the principal Notification No. 27/2018-Customs (N.T.) dated 28th March, 2018 [G.S.R. 295(E)], which specifies the places notified for the purposes of the Customs Act.

The amendment:

In the Table to the principal notification, after Sl. No. 14 and the entries relating thereto, a new entry has been added, namely – “15. Navi Mumbai”.

Background:

The principal Notification No. 27/2018-Customs (N.T.) dated 28th March, 2018 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide G.S.R. 295(E) dated 28th March, 2018, and was last amended by Notification No. 82/2020-Customs (N.T.) dated 21st August, 2020 [G.S.R. 518(E)]. Notification No. 57/2026-Customs (N.T.) is the latest amendment in this series.
