CBI lodges assets case against CGST asst commissioner

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday announced the registration of a case against an assistant commissioner of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) from Jaipur on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income by 100%.

In a statement, the CBI said a case was filed against the officer on Tuesday after a preliminary investigation into allegations that he enriched himself illegally while serving in CGST offices in Jaipur and Ahmedabad between Aug 2018 and Aug 2025.

According to the agency, the accused amassed assets worth around Rs 2.54 crore, including properties and investments in his name and those of his family members, which he could not satisfactorily explain. Investigators suspect that multiple firms, LLPs, and companies owned by his family were used to route illegal funds. CBI teams conducted searches at several locations linked to the accused across Jaipur, Ankleshwar, and Ahmedabad, which led to the recovery of gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 35 lakh.

CBI Officials said the officer and his family also owned several immovable properties across Rajasthan and possessed high-end vehicles, including a Porsche and a Jeep Compass. The agency has also identified two bank lockers held in the names of the officer’s family members, which are being examined.
