The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued Notification No. 49/2025 dated May 19, 2025, notifying the ITR-U (Income Tax Return for Updated Return). This new form allows individuals to update their income within forty-eight months from the end of the relevant assessment year. Consequently, ITR-U can now be filed for the four previous years.
