Britannia Industries Limited has received an Order from the Office of Assistant Commissioner, CGST & CX, Vaishali Division, Hajipur, Bihar under section 73 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, according to the Company’s regulatory filing.
The tax and penalty quantified in the Order amount to ₹ 86,32,307/—and ₹ 8,63,231/—, respectively, totaling a demand of ₹ 94,95,538/—, along with interest as applicable.
Order under Section 73 of the CGST Act has been passed alleging a mismatch in the input tax credit availed.
The company is likely to challenge the order before an appropriate authority. “The Order is appealable, and the Company shall take necessary actions, including exercising the legal remedies available under the GST law,” Britannia Industries said in its regulatory filing.
