Attack on GST investigation team in Jodhpur: Truck rams into DGGI officials’ car; suspects escape after snatching key evidence during late-night operation

On Thursday morning in Jodhpur, a team from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) was attacked during a raid. The team had come from Jaipur to inspect a suspected GST evasion network.

According to police, the transporter and his staff pushed the DGGI officers and forcibly took away two computer CPUs containing important data. They also hit a government vehicle with a truck, causing damage.

Basni Station Officer Nitin Dave said that the incident happened around 7:15 AM at Bishnoi Road Lines in the Industrial Area, Second Phase. When the DGGI team arrived, the office was locked, so they waited outside. A man named Sunil Bishnoi later came, opened the office, and started removing two CPUs. When the officers tried to stop him, he pushed them and ran away.

Transporter Pukhraj Khawa and his staff snatched the CPUs while pushing and shoving. The accused had one CPU placed in their accomplice’s car and drove it away from there. The second CPU was snatched from the team, placed in a truck, and they fled. While fleeing, they collided with the DGGI team’s vehicle, which was parked right in front of the truck.

According to departmental sources, other firms are also being investigated. Investigation is ongoing regarding the role of Sunil Bishnoi, who was caught at the spot, in the transport company and in orchestrating the attack. It is suspected that the CPUs taken from the spot might contain important data.

Team arrived on information of GST evasion The DGGI team had reached Jodhpur to take action against the GST evasion network linked to the steel industry and transport. The transport company was accused of GST evasion through bogus billing, along with issuing fake bills from two or three of its firms. The team had received information that GST worth crores was being evaded through fake billing. DGGI had been monitoring the network for a long time.

Basni Police Started Investigation Basni Station Officer Nitin Dave said that as soon as the information about the incident was received, the team reached the spot. The police took information about the incident from the DGGI team and started scanning the CCTV camera footage installed at various nearby locations. Police hope that the CCTV footage will help identify the accused and get the car-truck numbers.

Crackdown on GST Evasion Network This action by DGGI was taken to tighten the noose on the GST evasion network operating in the transport sector. According to information, several transport companies are defrauding the government of crores of rupees in GST by creating fake billing and waybills. The DGGI team had been investigating this network for a long time, and the raid on Bishnoi Road Lines was part of this investigation.
