A.P. CM calls for extensive campaigns to publicise benefits of GST rate cut

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the Ministers to take necessary steps for conducting 65,000 meetings and programs across the State to publicise the benefits of GST 2.0 reforms among consumers, till October 19.

He had a review meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the action plan for taking the benefits of the GST rationalisation to every household in the State under the ‘Super GST – Super Savings’ initiative.

The officials concerned told the Chief Minister that awareness programmes were already being held on the steep cut in GST on a wide variety of goods, including essential commodities, and services. Plans have been made to do sector-specific awareness campaigns from September 30 to October 19.

Mr. Naidu suggested that due focus should be laid on spreading awareness among the farmers by organising tractor rallies and farm machinery demonstrations. Exhibitions should be held by APCO and Lepakshi, MSME products should be displayed, and the GST rate reductions highlighted, he said.

Mr. Naidu told the Ministers to create awareness on the GST rate rationalisation among the students by conducting competitions. Wind up the field campaigns on October 18 and organise shopping festivals and cultural programmes on October 19 in all the district headquarters, he said.

Extensive publicity should be given through radio, TV, print and social media, and cinema theatres until October 19, and hoardings set up at government offices to let the people know about the GST cut bonanza, he added.

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and other officials were present.
