Computer hardware & peripherals, which form 3.8 per cent of the electronic goods sector, posted a sharp 101% growth, doubling to $1.4 billion from $ 0.7 million.
Engineering goods remained the largest contributor to total goods exports in FY25, while electronic goods sector witnessed the highest export growth rate.
Other sectors which contributed to keeping goods export performance in FY25 at par with the previous fiscal included agriculture and allied products, drugs and pharmaceuticals and textiles, according to data from Commerce Ministry.

Engineering goods exports during the fiscal, at $116.67 billion, accounted for 26.67 per cent, or more than a quarter of total exports of $437.42 billion. It posted a growth of 6.74 per cent over the previous year reflecting India’s continued competitiveness despite various geo-political constraints, the government noted.
Top export destinations for engineering goods included the US, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK and Germany.
“The enablers for engineering goods included the PLI scheme for automobile and auto components and the national programme on advanced chemistry cell,” an official said.
Sharp increase in exports
The electronic goods sector posted a growth of 32.46 per cent, jumping to $38.58 billion from $29.12 billion, in FY25. Computer hardware & peripherals, which form 3.8 per cent of the sector, posted a sharp 101 per cent growth, doubling to $1.4 billion from $ 0.7 billion.

“Electronics goods exports have been one of the fastest growing sectors over the past decade posting a CAGR of 20 per cent in FY 25 from FY 15. In value terms, engineering exports grew from $6.3 billion in FY15 to $38.6 billion in FY25,” the official pointed out.
Agriculture and allied sector, a key export sector, grew 11.85 per cent during the fiscal to $51.86 billion. Fruits and vegetables exports touched $4 billion in FY25 from $3.7 billion in FY24. The largest export destinations were Bangladesh, the UAE, the Netherlands, Nepal and Malaysia. While top exported fruits included grapes, pomegranates, mangoes, bananas and oranges, top exported vegetables were onions, mixed vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes and green chillies.
Rice exports touched the highest ever mark of $12.5 billion in FY25 after posting a slight decline the previous fiscal at $10.4 billion. “Top basmati export destinations include Saudi Arab, Iran, Iraq, UAE, the US and Yemen,” the official pointed out.
Spices exports increased to $4.45 billion in FY25 from $4.25 billion the previous year, with shipments going to China, the US, the UAE, Bangladesh and Thailand. Chili, cumin, turmeric and ginger were the top items in FY23.
Drugs and pharmaceuticals exports shot up to $30.5 billion in FY25, registering a 9.3 per cent from $27.9 billion in the previous fiscal. “Shipments were sent to over 200 destinations around the globe,” the official said.
The textiles sector, too, contributed significantly to the positive export performance. Textiles exports increased 6.77 per cent in FY25 to $34.84 billion. Large markets for Indian textiles and apparels included the US, Bangladesh, the UAE, the UK and Germany.
