Private insurer ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd on Monday (January 6) said it has received an order under Section 107 of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017, from the Commissioner (Appeals) on January 6, 2025, which upholds the total tax demand for the period FY2019 to FY2021.
“Accordingly, the Company has received an order under Section 107 of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 from Commissioner (Appeals) on January 6, 2025, at 11.13 a.m., upholding the total tax demand,” ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company said in a regulatory filing
This follows an earlier order issued by the Additional Commissioner of Tamil Nadu, which ICICI Prudential had challenged through an appeal. The company had filed the appeal within the prescribed timelines, seeking a review of the initial ruling.
“We refer to our letter dated March 22, 2024, with respect to the order passed by the Additional Commissioner of Tamil Nadu for FY2019 to FY2021. As intimated in the said letter, the Company had filed an appeal before the Commissioner (Appeals) within the prescribed timelines, challenging the said order,” it said.
ICICI Prudential has confirmed that it intends to file a further appeal against the upheld demand before the appropriate authority in due course. “Kindly note that the Company shall file an appeal against the demand upheld in the said order before the appropriate authority in due course,” it added.
