Tata Consumer Products Limited has disclosed receiving an assessment order under Section 143(3) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, from the Assistant Commissioner of Income-tax, Circle 4(1), Kolkata.
The order, dated March 31, 2025, relates to the income tax return filed for the financial year 2021-22.
The assessment proposes certain additions/disallowances with respect to the company’s returned income, resulting in a demand of ₹2,62,08,81,870 (approximately ₹262 crore), inclusive of interest.
In a filing with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited on April 1, 2025, Tata Consumer Products stated that it believes the demand is not maintainable and is in the process of preparing an appeal against the order.
The company further stated that there is no immediate impact on the financials, operations, or other activities of the company as a result of the aforementioned order. The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
